Divivision III Women's Basketball Tournament Seeding

The 2020 Region III - Division III Women's Basketball Tournament field has been announced and for the first time in program history the North Country Community College Saints have earned the top seed in the tournament.  The Saints earned the top seed finishing the regular season 25-3 overall and 18-1 in Region III matchups.  The entire field features eleven programs from the region with opening round games scheduled for Saturday, February 22nd.  The full listing of tournament seeds is listed below.

The top four tournament seeds have received byes and will host a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, February 25th.  The three opening round matchups will feature one matchup of Mid-State Conference foes and pair of Mountain Valley schools playing host to MSAC opponents.

Sixth seeded Fulton-Montogmery CC will host #11 Cayuga CC.  The host Raiders defeated Cayuga 62-47 in their regular season matchup in early December.  The winner will advance to the quarterfinals to face third seeded Herkimer College.  Seventh seed Corning CC will play tenth seeded Finger Lakes CC in the opening round.  The Red Barons swept a pair of regular season games with Lakers winning 55-42 at FLCC in January and 75-49 at home earlier this month.  The winner will advance to face Mid-State Conference champion Onondaga CC in the quarterfinals.  As the eighth seed, Hudson Valley CC will play host to ninth seeded SUNY Broome CC.  The host Vikings will look to avenge a regular season 66-60 road loss to the Hornets in late January and advance to the quarter-finals to take on top seeded North Country.  Fifth seeded Jefferson CC also receives a bye into the quarterfinals and will travel to Utica to take on Mohawk Valley CC in the quarterfinals.

Tuesday's quarterfinal winners will advance to the Regional Final Four February 29th-March 1st hosted by the highest remaining seed in the tournament.  Check the Region III Scoreboard for game times and results.
