NJCAA Division III District A and B champions will be crowned this week as the Region III soccer tournaments get underway starting this Tuesday, October 24th. Ten men's teams and eleven women's team will be competing for bids to the national championship tournaments November 9 -12. The Region III Tournament championship matches are slated for Sunday, October 29th at Genesee Community College.
The District A bracket features Genesee Community College as the top overall seed, who completed the regular season with a 12-0-1 regional record. The Cougars will await the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between eighth seeded Tompkins Cortland Community College and ninth seeded Fulton-Montgomery Community College. The Raiders of FMCC will travel to Dryden to take on the Panthers this Tuesday. The winner will advance and travel to Genesee for the semifinals on Thursday. The second semifinal matchup features a pair of Mid-State Athletic Conference foes in the fourth seeded Spartans from Cayuga Community College who will host the fifth seeded Hornets from SUNY Broome CC on Thursday. The Spartans defeated the Hornets in a mid-September match by a score of 3-0.
Herkimer College earned the top seed in the District B bracket after a 12-1-1 regular season record against Region III competition. The Generals will host the victor of seventh seeded Hudson Valley CC and tenth seeded Finger Lakes Community College. The Lakers of FLCC will travel to Troy to take on Vikings as they look to defeat HVCC a second time this season after an early season 1-0 home victory in late August while HVCC looks to avenge the early season defeat. Onondaga Community College earned the third overall seed riding a fourteen game winning streak into the post season. The Lazers will host the Kats from Erie Community College as the two teams meet for a second time in less than ten days. The Lazers defeated ECC 6-2 on October 18th.

Top nationally ranked Herkimer College heads into the Region III championships as the top seed in the District A bracket. The Generals earn the top overall seed with a 12-1 record in Region III matchups this season. The eighth seeded Hornets from SUNY Broome Community College will host the ninth seeded Lazers from Onondaga CC this Tuesday for the right to advance and try to pull the upset over the top seed. The two teams met in late September when SUNY Broome traveled to OCC where the home team emerged victorious in a closely contested contest 3-2. The second semifinal in the District A bracket features fourth seeded Corning Community College and fifth seeded Hudson Valley CC. The Vikings will travel to Corning on Thursday looking to advance to the championship and to atone a 2-0 loss to the Red Barons in the regular season. The Red Barons look to extend their eleven game winning streak and advance to the District A championship.
District B features a pair of top five nationally ranked teams in Erie Community College and Genesee Community College. ECC enters the post season as the second overall seed while GCC enters as the third seed. The two teams await the winners of a pair of quarterfinal matchups this Tuesday. The second seeded Kats will take on seventh seeded Tompkins Cortland CC or tenth seeded Mohawk Valley Community College. The Panthers will host the Hawks in a rematch of an overtime thriller won by Tompkins Cortland 3-2 earlier this month. Finger Lakes CC will host Jamestown Community College for a chance to advance to face Genesee in the semifinals. The 11th seeded Jayhawks from JCC will look to defeat the Lakers for a second time this season and pull the upset while Finger Lakes will be looking to turn around a 2-0 loss to Jamestown in their regular season match.
