Male Athletes of the Week


Quran Brewer

Sport:  Football

College:  Erie Community College

Hometown:  Niagara Falls, NY

Quran would have two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown this Saturday.  He defensive effort helped lead the Kats to a 43-14 victory over Hudson Valley Community College as ECC captured the Region III Championship.






Charlie Livesey

Sport:  Soccer

College:  Genesee Community College

Hometown:  Sandbach, United Kingdom

Charlie led all Cougars in playoff scoring with 8 points helping Genesee capture the District A Region 3 title. In the process, the sophomore remains the leader in assists in Division III of the NJCAA and now shares the team lead in goals. In Genesee’s semifinal win against Tompkins-Cortland, Charlie registered a pair of goals and a pair of assists. The UK native was one of three Cougars to score in the championship game and increase Genesee’s win streak to 8 games and improve its unbeaten string to 17 as the team next competes at the NJCAA national tournament.





Abshir Yerow

Sport:  Cross Country

College:  Onondaga Community College

Hometown:  Syracuse, NY

Abshir has emerged as a true leader for the Onondaga men’s cross country team in his first year of competition in the sport. He dominated both the MSAC Conference Championship and the Region III Championship beating all runners in the field by over a minute. He was named to both the All Conference and All Region Teams as well as being awarded Runner of the Year at both Championship races.





Female Athletes of the Week

Mikayla Blumenstock

Sport:  Soccer

College:  Herkimer College

Hometown:  Poland, NY

Blumenstock tallied 5 goals and a pair of assists leading the Herkimer Generals to the Region 3A Championship this week. She was named Tournament MVP after recording a hat trick in the final.





Rachel Fiore

Sport:  Soccer

College:  Erie Community College

Hometown:  Tonawanda, NY

Rachel would score three goals and register two assists in two matches in the Region III District B Women's soccer tournament as the Kats captured the title. Fiore would be named tournament MVP for her performance which included a penalty kick goal to give the Kats a 2-0 lead in a 2-0 win in the finals.
